Welcome! I’m Richard Mulder, a results-driven Compliance Manager with over 12 years of experience in the financial services industry, specializing in anti-money laundering (AML) governance, risk management, and process optimization. My career has been shaped by a passion for building effective compliance frameworks that not only meet regulatory standards but also enhance operational efficiency.

I’ve had the privilege of leading compliance teams at top financial institutions like American Express, where I spearheaded initiatives that transformed compliance reporting, optimized Universal Acceptance Testing (UAT) processes, and implemented cutting-edge data analytics solutions. These efforts not only improved our response to regulatory inquiries but also drove efficiency across various departments. Throughout my career, I’ve prioritized collaboration, innovation, and leadership, which has resulted in high-performing teams and streamlined processes.

My Journey in Compliance

I began my career at Select Portfolio Servicing, where I managed late-stage collections and played a critical role in reducing loan delinquencies. Since then, I’ve progressively taken on more responsibilities, leading me to senior roles in compliance at Credit Corp Solutions and American Express. My expertise spans everything from regulatory compliance and risk assessments to data management and stakeholder collaboration.

One of my key strengths is my ability to leverage technology for compliance reporting and risk mitigation. I’ve developed Excel-based automation tools, collaborated with IT teams on system integrations, and continuously sought to improve how data is used to drive decision-making.

What Drives Me

Whether it’s compliance or creative writing, I am driven by the desire to solve problems, create impactful solutions, and constantly improve. I believe that innovation, whether in the corporate world or through storytelling, comes from a willingness to look at challenges from new perspectives.

When I’m not building compliance frameworks or writing novels, I enjoy staying connected with industry trends and learning new ways to integrate technology into the world of risk management.
